Standing at the mirror, she notices that the brushing of her hair shows more of her face. She’s getting used to it. Almond eyes, a small gap, brown skin and a hint of gold makes up the masterpiece. Then, she feels it again. There may be other parts about her that are not favorable to the current standards of beauty. The word ugly pops into her mind. A word that mars the soul, the essence of who she is. And it shows in the way her eyes lose an important gleam. Until she realizes that the way she was made pairs nicely with the God inside of her.
The most beautiful thing about me is God. What a Christian thing to say, I get it. But, if God is not the better part of you, that means the opinions of others are the foundation of what makes you beautiful. Scripture says “The sun shall no more be your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you, but the Lord shall be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory and your beauty.” Isaiah 60:19 AMPC. This is not just a descriptor of our time in heaven, it is the way we should live out our time on earth. God should be our everything, because He is everything that we can possibly need. Especcially, when we need to feel beautiful. Our beauty is about whose we are.
